A beautifully refurbished & extended period country cottage with lots of character & a good-sized South facing garden set in a lovely rural location close to Tisbury.
A quintessential period cottage which has been beautifully refurbished over the last few years. It is built of local stone under a thatched roof and is not listed. A charming stone entrance porch leads into a pretty sitting room with an inglenook fireplace, woodburner and window seat. Beyond is the attractively fitted Kitchen/Breakfast Room with a range of cupboards, granite & hardwood worksurfaces, built-in appliances including a Zannusi oven and induction hob. There is also an oil-fired Rayburn for cooking, heating and hot water. The kitchen opens out to a breakfast/dining room with ample room for a table, chairs or sofa and has a door to the garden. On the first floor are three bedrooms, a family bathroom and an en-suite shower room. From the cottage there are charming views over the garden and countryside beyond.
The generous South facing garden is mainly laid to lawn with a variety of herbaceous borders. From the lane double wooden gates open to a gravelled area with parking for one car, a paved terrace and path leading down the garden. Beyond a pair of apple trees there is a further area of lawn, small pond, vegetable bed, summer house and garden shed. There are long reaching country views from this area of the garden to the East. A short walk along the lane is a parking area belonging to the cottage and a wooden store which could be replaced by a garage.
The property is situated at the southern end of Tisbury Row, between Tisbury and the village of Ansty, within the popular and stunning Nadder Valley. It is set about 1.5 miles south of Tisbury which has become increasingly popular due to its wide range of shops, amenities, Messums Art gallery, thriving community and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it.
Tisbury Station offers services to London Waterloo from 1 hour 50 minutes. Access to the A303 is about 6 miles to the north, which brings the M3/M25 within easy commuting distance and for a more comprehensive range of shopping facilities, the cathedral city of Salisbury lies about 14 miles to the east or Shaftesbury about 7.5 miles to the west.
Sporting facilities in the area include golf courses at Rushmore and South West Wilts, racing at Salisbury or Wincanton. There is an extensive network of bridleways and footpaths from the house with superb walking. The popular Jurassic coastline in South Dorset is within easy reach. The area is also renowned for its excellent schooling locally, both state and private.
