If you are looking to buy or rent that perfect yet easily accessible country cottage or family home then Wiltshire is a great place. With its sweeping chalk and limestone downland and pretty valleys and vales, this sizeable but mainly rural county, stretches from the Cotswolds in the North to Cranborne Chase and the West Wiltshire Downs in the South with the wide expanses of Salisbury Plain in the middle.
Dorset has long been regarded as the epitome of the ideal rural county and when searching for a character country property for sale or rent, it is often the first one that comes to mind. With its slower paced lifestyle, incredibly beautiful and varied scenery, stunning coastline, rich history and literary connections, it really is a very special place.
There is more to Somerset than Cider, Cheddar cheese, The Wurzels and the Glastonbury festival. This West Country county has a diverse landscape ranging from high moorland, ranges of hills, gently undulating countryside, clay vales and low lying wetlands. Largely agricultural, Southeast Somerset is known for its pretty cottages and houses built in the warm, honey coloured local hamstone.
Hampshire links the Home Counties with the West Country. Much of the county consists of the rolling chalk downland of the South Downs and the edge of Salisbury Plain whilst the southern part is made up of the coastal plain along the South Coast and the heathland of the New Forest.
